Osimhen’s future remains the subject of debate, with Europe’s top clubs looking to pounce on his services this summer.
Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen could still leave Napoli this summer despite claims that he is set to sign a new two-year contract with the club.
Osimhen is a target for a host of Europe’s top clubs this summer after a historical season with Napoli.
Osimhen's Napoli situation
The Super Eagles star had his best year in his professional career last season after his goals led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
Osimhen scored 26 league goals, including the title-clinching strike, for Napoli last season. The former Lille man also added another five strikes in six Champions League games to end up with 31 goals in all competitions.
As a result, Osimhen’s future has been a subject of debate, with Europe’s biggest clubs courting his services.
Although Napoli are not willing to sell, with reports claiming that he is set to sign a new two-year deal, Osimhen could still leave Naples this summer.
Osimhen could leave Napoli
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis did confirm that they have offered Osimhen a new two-year contract but said the Nigerian could leave if they receive an offer too big to refuse.
“We have an agreement in principle with Victor Osimhen to extend his contract for two more years”. In case an exorbitant bid impossible to reject arrives, we will see and make the best decision for the club,” de Laurentiis said, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Although Laurentiis did not state a specific fee, Napoli will only sell Osimhen for an amount over €100m.
The Super Eagles star still has two years left on his original contract at the club having joined from Lille for a club and African record fee of €75m in 2020.
