On the other hand, Arua Hill were without their inspiring figure, Gadafi Wahab, who was shown a red card in their 1-0 defeat to Express FC earlier in the week.

After a four-game winless spell, NEC FC finally won a game of football, edging Arua Hill SC 2-1 in the Uganda Premier League at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Saturday.

NEC had lost and drawn twice apiece in their last four games but needed to come from a goal down to tame the hapless Leopards.

While it was pleasant for NEC at Lugogo, the result spelt more agony for Arua Hill, who have now lost 12 games in the first round.

Brian Kayanja's brace was enough for the Diehards to hand them three valuable points on home turf.

The victory took NEC seventh with 24 points, and they will kickstart the second round with a trip to Busoga United on February 11.

On the other hand, Arua Hill were without their inspiring figure, Gadafi Wahab, who was shown a red card in their 1-0 defeat to Express FC earlier in the week.

About a week back, the skipper indicated he would exit the club in search of greener pastures at the end of the first round.

Meanwhile, the Leopards rock the bottom with just five points out of a possible 45.

They will seek to bounce back from their ruins in their first game of the second round against Vipers SC on February 7.
