Improving on that, winning silverware and returning to the Uganda Cranes team is the agenda for the shot-stopper.

URA FC’s latest signing Denis Otim is optimistic he can help the club win the Startimes Uganda Premier League and earn a call-up to the Uganda Cranes squad.

In his maiden interview with the club, the former Express FC and Mbarara City FC custodian revealed that he is settling in well and ready for action.

‘The few days I have been here have been perfect. We are trying to catch up with the rest of the players,” Otim revealed.

The goalkeeper was unveiled on Monday and joins a host of players the Tax Collectors have signed in the ongoing transfer window.

URA had already unveiled Moses Aliro, Denis Luzige Kisiriko, John Innocent Kisolo, Amis Bwangani, Ibrahim Wamannah and Godfrey Sekibengo before signing Otim.

Speaking about his past experience at the clubs he has played for, Otim said: “It’s been a challenging experience from the youth teams to Express, and now to URA, it’s been full of ups and downs.”

“It hasn’t been easy, but I think the experienced I gained before will help me push this club to the next level.”

URA parted ways with long-serving custodian Nafian Aliozi and will have a new number one in the coming season.

It remains to be seen if Otim will be that number one.

“Competition is always key for a player’s improvement and success. I think that will push me to improve where I am not good.”

Sam Timbe’s charges won 10 games, drew 12 and lost six to finish fifth with 42 points last season, 11 behind title winners Vipers SC.

Improving on that, winning silverware and returning to the Uganda Cranes team is the agenda for the shot-stopper.

“I want to help this club win the championship and succeed in every tournament we engage in.

“As a player, I want to keep more clean sheets and maybe go back on the national team.”
