Newcastle United are reportedly in pole position to land Leicester City's contract rebel James Maddison in the summer.
The 26-year-old has been a top-level performer for the Foxes since signing for Norwich in 2018 and has been constantly linked with a move out of the club, attracting interest from clubs like Manchester United, however, Leicester held out on selling the England international.
His contract is set to expire next in 2014, and 2016 Premier League winners are expected to be open to selling him, to avoid losing him on a free. With several clubs attentive to his situation, the Magpies are said to be leading the race for his signature.
Newcastle in pole position for Maddison
Football Insider reports that Newcastle are leading the race for the Coventry-born midfielder, and are in pole position to land him this summer.
The interest by the PFI-owned club is well reported, with the Tyneside club going for the player last summer but failing to land him.
Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe, has publicly spoken about interest in the player, and they are expected to go all out for him in the summer.
