Sick Mikel Arteta blasts 'disgraceful' VAR decision for ending Arsenal's invincibles dream
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal were one of two unbeaten teams left in the Premier League before the visit to Newcastle United.
Willock posted two images to his tale from insults he received on Instagram, saying, "It's a game of football mate, no need for this. @instagram please find this person."
Willock then shared a post displaying the message, "Show racism the red card."
Newcastle released a statement about the incident this morning saying, "Newcastle United strongly condemns racist abuse sent to Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock via social media following yesterday's victory over Arsenal.
"Our message is clear. There is no room for racism in football or society. We are providing support to Bruno and Joe and will work with relevant authorities and social media platforms to identify those responsible so that they can be held to account."
Throughout the whole ninety minutes of the heated match at St. James' Park, Guimaraes participated in multiple incidents of escalation.
He got away with several incidents including when he used his forearm to strike Jorginho in the back of the head.
But in the 88th minute, the Brazilian was given a yellow card for pushing Fabio Vieira to the ground with an errant hand.
Shortly after the hour, Willock, a former Arsenal midfielder, replaced Callum Wilson by coming off the bench.
He played a significant role in Anthony Gordon's game-winning goal following a four-minute VAR check.
In the end, the goal was awarded because it was determined that Willock had maintained the ball in play by the corner flag, that Gordon was onside, that Gabriel Magalhaes had committed no fouls, and that Joelinton had not committed a handball.
