Neymar may face sanctions after a confrontation with a fan who threw popcorn at him during Brazil's match against Venezuela

Celbrated footballer Neymar might soon find himself in deep waters with the Brazilian FA following an altercation with a fan, sparked by a tub of popcorn.

The incident unfolded after Brazil’s recent 1-1 draw with Venezuela, a result which saw Brazil falling behind their long-standing rivals, Argentina, in the World Cup qualification race.

The match itself was full of twists and tensions. Just when Brazil thought they had sealed a win with a goal from Gabriel Magalhaes, Venezuela struck back with a mesmerizing bicycle kick by Eduard Bello. The Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba, already a cauldron of emotions, transformed into a theater of boos and jeers directed at the Brazilian team.

Neymar, the pride of Brazil and its all-time top scorer, did not escape the fans' wrath. As he was making his way to the tunnel, an irate fan threw a tub of popcorn at him, hitting him on the head.

The gesture, although not particularly harmful physically, held immense symbolic weight. Neymar's immediate reaction was to engage with the fan. He verbally expressed his anger and even singled out a person from the stands.

Fortunately, further confrontations were averted as his teammates intervened, pulling him away by the front of his shirt.

Such was the intensity of the game that it was not just the popcorn incident that made headlines.

Neymar was already in a tiff with Salomon Rondon, a player who has had his stints with English clubs like West Brom, Newcastle, and Everton. Furthermore, Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal was also irked by the antics of the Venezuelan team.

The encounter between Brazil and Venezuela culminated in an on-field commotion right at the final whistle. A challenge from Bello on Gerson was the flashpoint, leading to a skirmish involving players from both teams.

For Brazil, the match had more significant repercussions than just a draw. This was the first time the five-time world champions could not claim victory over Venezuela on their home turf.

To add to the pain, this draw broke their 15-match winning streak in World Cup qualifiers at home, a proud record that had been intact since 2015.

As the dust settles on the tumultuous match, all eyes are now on the Brazilian FA. Will they take disciplinary actions against Neymar for his outburst?

It is essential to note that while Neymar's reaction might seem instinctual to many, footballers, especially of his stature, are expected to maintain a level of decorum.
