No fewer than six referees featured in the report, with two of them FIFA-badged, came under the red flag.
The Nigeria Football Federation has approved the evaluation report and sanctions by its referee's committee.
Nigeria’s football governing body has as a matter of urgency endorsed a series of sanctions meted out on some referees from Nigeria’s elite divisions, the NPFL and NWFL.
The approval came following an evaluation report from the body’s Referee Committee headed by Mrs Faith Irabor.
The Statement
In a statement from its communication department, the NFF confirmed the endorsement of the report in a bid to ensure match officials maintained a good character and the ethics of their profession in the leagues.
“The Board of the Nigeria Football Federation has endorsed the first evaluation report, including sanctions, meted out to erring officials by the Federation’s Referees Committee headed by Mrs (Faith) Irabor,” the statement said.
In endorsing the report, the NFF found the match referees guilty of failing to abide by the rules and regulations of the game, with most of them punished while others were reprimanded and asked to improve their performances going forward.
The Verdict
Referees who have been punished and asked to stand down from the league are led by Faro Abdulrahman, who was at the centre of controversy when the champions Rivers United hosted Niger Tornadoes in Port Harcourt.
According to the NPFL’s decision, Abdulrahman will stand down from the league after he disallowed a legitimate goal scored by the visitors, Tornadoes.

All the officials for the week five match between Rivers United and Wikki led by Taiwo David, the centre referee, have been asked to stand down after a Wikki Tourist goal was disallowed.
Also, the centre referee and his assistant referee 2 for the game between Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars, Promise Amadi and Lewis Gwatana, will stand down from the NPFL.
The assistant referee 2 for , Otuwho Morrison is to be stand down from the league game between Shooting Stars Sports Club and Kwara United FC.
Refs reprimanded

She has been 'warned and advised to always consider the larger picture by appropriate scanning and delay decision until there is a clear certainty to justify a decision.'
