Super Eagles legend Mikel Obi has paid a heartfelt tribute to his former teammate at Chelsea on his birthday.

Nigeria Super Eagles legend John Mikel Obi has honoured his former Chelsea teammate John Terry on the occasion of the iconic defender's 44th birthday.

Taking to his Instagram account, Obi shared a heartfelt message celebrating Terry's contributions both on and off the pitch during their time together at Stamford Bridge.

In a simple yet powerful three-word message, Obi referred to Terry as a “Captain, leader, legend,” highlighting the important attributes and qualities that made the former Chelsea skipper a revered figure at the club.

Meanwhile, the Chelsea icon, Obi, has weighed in on the ongoing battle for supremacy in the Premier League with a vivid respection of the rivalry between Chelsea and Arsenal.

Per a Pulse Sports report, the former Super Eagles captain has shed light on the intense rivalry between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger during their time as managers of Chelsea and Arsenal, respectively.

Mikel recalled on his latest podcast that Mourinho strongly disliked Arsenal players during his time at the Bridge and even forbade his Chelsea players from shaking hands with the Gunners.

“He is standing there at the tunnel looking at you thinking ‘Is he going to shake his hands?’ ‘you shake an Arsenal player’s hands?’ he will probably pull you out and tell you to go back to the changing room.
