Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro believes the expectations and pressure to win games in Nigeria are second to none in Africa.
As Nigeria prepares to kick off the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at home to Lesotho, the Super Eagles shoulder the heaviest burden of expectations in Africa.

Peseiro on Super Eagles
The Super Eagles will host Lesotho in a must-win encounter on Thursday as the journey to USA 2026 officially gets underway.
Peseiro and his boys have been in Uyo perfecting their tactics ahead of the first game of what is a double-header.
Nigeria will host the Crocodiles of Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo later today before jetting out of the country to face Zimbabwe three days later.
With all eyes on the country securing a ticket to the global fiesta after missing out on the last one in Qatar, the Super Eagles boss has noted that the weight of expectation and pressure facing his team is unparalleled in Africa.
“In Africa, the team with more pressure and stress is Nigeria because there are more people who want satisfaction,” Peseiro started in his pre-match press conference according to a report from Complete Sports.
“I have spoken with my players to be focused which if that is done they will get the first three points in the qualifiers,“ he added.
Nigeria faces a tricky path to the 2026 campaign, with South Africa, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and the Benin Republic the other countries hoping to stop the Eagles this time.
