Boniface has excelled since joining Bayer Leverkusen last summer, becoming one of the world's top strikers, but has struggled to achieve similar success with the Super Eagles.

Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen is confident that Victor Boniface will end his goal drought for the team against Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Boniface has been in impressive form since joining Bayer Leverkusen last summer, establishing himself as one of the world's top strikers.

However, he has struggled to replicate his club's success at the international level, failing to score in eight appearances for the Super Eagles.

Despite Boniface's goal drought, Eguavoen remains optimistic about his ability to contribute to the team. With the reigning African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen, sidelined by injury, Boniface will take on the goal-scoring duties.

"Victor Boniface has always been a part of this team and will continue to be a part of this team. Yes, he is not finding the back of the net, and I can assure you that if he starts tomorrow, he will score," Eguavoen said in Uyo.

Boniface set to lead Super Eagles attack

The Super Eagles will miss their star striker, Victor Osimhen, due to injury. In his absence, Boniface will be expected to spearhead the attack, leveraging his strong form at Bayer Leverkusen.

Nigeria aim to extend their unbeaten run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as they host Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

The Super Eagles are on course to qualify for the tournament following a convincing win over the Benin Republic and a draw with Rwanda, while the Mediterranean Knights find themselves in a different situation.
