Nigeria narrowly defeated Libya in their 2025 AFCON qualifiers in Uyo and moved top of the Group D table.
The Super Eagles were without their key striker, Victor Osimhen, for the clash but were able to get a 1-0 victory over Libya.
A late goal from Dele Bashiru was enough to seal the victory for Augustine Eguavoen’s men, despite having a controversial goal ruled out for an offside.

Troost Ekong - 6
Ekong was solid in defence for the Super Eagles, although the Libyans did not pose any threat in attack. He kept his cool with his aerial duels and coordinating the defence.
Cavin Bassey - 6
Bassey held his own at the back and was solid partnering Ekong. He made sure not to put any foot wrong, both going forward and getting back to defend.
Bruno Onyemaechi - 7
Onyemaechi made sure Adeloma Lookman was not isolated on the flank and was available to always make a run for the winger.

Ndidi came to the game brimming with confidence after a good start to the season and he showed his quality by helping Nigeria progress the ball from the midfield.

Onyeka partnered Ndidi and Iwobi in the midfield and was efficiently playing as a box-to-box midfielder for the team.

Iwobi made sure the Super Eagles controlled the game in midfield and was at the heart of several chances created in the game. He also made some clever runs into the box and was unfortunate not to be on the scoresheet.
Moses Simon - 8
Simon was a menace on the wing for the Super Eagles. The winger tormented the Libyian fullbacks with his dribbling skills and crowned his effort with an assist.
Ademola Lookman - 8
Ballon d’Or nominee Lookman was all over the place, creating chances and trying to break through the Libya defence.
Victor Boniface - 6
Boniface continued his goal drought for the Super Eagles. He failed to threaten the Libyan defenders and they found it easy to mark him out.

Onyedika also did not give much after his introduction but helped the Super Eagles maintain their dominance in the game.
