Alex Iwobi has been rewarded for a superb season at Everton after being voted for by his peers as the club's Player of the Season
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has capped a respectable 2022/23 season by being named Everton’s Men’s Players’ Player of the Year after he helped the Toffees escape relegation.
Iwobi rewarded for fine season
Iwobi was honoured with the award on Friday, after being voted by his peers as their player of the season as part of the Toffees’ end-of-season awards, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and midfielder Dwight McNeil also claiming honours.
Iwobi was a crucial part of Everton’s Premier League survival, as he played all 38 matches in the league campaign, scoring two goals and assisting seven more.
Iwobi enjoys peers' admiration
Despite playing in different positions across two managers for Everton, Iwobi remained consistent in his performances and has been recognised for his contribution to the team with the Players’ Player of the Year award.
In presenting this year’s award winner, Everton’s statement referenced Iwobi, saying, “Iwobi continued his impressive form from the previous season and topped the Players' Player vote after playing a crucial role in several different positions, as well as providing a club-high of eight assists.”
Everton will be hoping to recover from the relegation dogfight in the 2022/23 season by pushing on in the 2023/24 season, likely with Iwobi at the centre of the team’s success again.
