Futsal Association Uganda intended to use the friendly games against Somalia to create a clear path for a national team.

A select Nile Cranes team will take on Somalia in two friendly matches at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena on the 15th of July and 22nd of July, 2023.

“We haven’t yet formed a national team as of this moment,” FAU chairman Hamza Jjunju told Pulse Sports before he added.

“But these friendlies are a step in the right direction; we are targeting the next international break in September.”

“The team selected to play in these friendlies has the best performers in the just concluded Futsal Super League and will have a chance to showcase more of their talent under the lights,” Jjunju added.

Mohammed Ssembatya will take charge of the team, assisted by Sharon Namatovu and Resty Nalweyiso.
