Despite creating a positive initial impression during his training sessions, Nkuubi failed to demonstrate the level of ability required by SC Villa's new head coach, Dusan Stojanovic.
Midfielder Brian Nkuubi’s ambitious attempt to prove good enough for SC Villa has been halted, with the club no longer willing to push through with a deal.
Nkuubi, who has been on the hunt for a new club since the end of his contract with Maroons, had been eager to make a positive impression at SC Villa.
Nkuubi was recommended to SC Villa by assistant coach Morley Byekwaso, and while he made a solid start during initial sessions, he failed to demonstrate the level of ability required by SC Villa's new head coach, Dusan Stojanovic.
Nkuubi, 29, was presented with a unique opportunity to cement his spot at SC Villa when he joined the club's pre-season training last week.
The midfielder was hoping this could be a new chapter to rejuvenate his career, which experienced a slight hiccup since his major breakthrough at Kira Young back in 2013.
However, Nkuubi fell short of impressing Stojanovic, who had made it clear that only exceptional performance would earn him a contract.
Having played for numerous teams over the course of his career, Nkuubi has had an impressive record, including a rather successful spell at Vipers where he clinched two Uganda Premier League titles during his five-year tenure.
After leaving Vipers in August 2020, he signed for URA FC, although injuries led to limited playing time during his two seasons with the club.
Nkuubi's most recent stint was at Maroons, where his contributions helped the team finish an impressive sixth in the league, despite only playing 16 games.
