OPINION No outright favorite for the Uganda Premier League title? Brace yourselves for the epic end

For the final games of the campaign on May 27, Vipers, KCCA and Villa will be at home with their fans against Busoga United, Bright Stars and URA, respectively.

The Uganda Premier League title race is set for a pulsating finish, as three teams SC Villa, KCCA FC and Vipers SC tie on points at the summit.

Vipers leads the way courtesy of a superior goal difference. With a difference of 19 goals, they beat KCCA's 15 and Villa's five.

With three games to the touchline, the race will surely go down to the wire, an enjoyable one for the neutral fan.

In a season where there has not been one team to stamp dominion over the rest, it would be mindless to underestimate the opponents in the three remaining games for the trio.

Vipers have two home ties; first against Express FC on Tuesday and the other to Busoga United on the last game of the season. In between, they have a trip to BUL FC.

While the Venoms boast the best home record this season, with 30 points collected over a possible 36, their away form has been wanting, taking 16 points out of 39.

Their final game on the road provides the perfect opportunity to improve the latter statistic, yet they will also want to better their output at home.

Meanwhile, while KCCA holds the second-best home record with 28 points off a possible 36, on the road they've gathered just 18 from an available 39.

They will want to use their decent home statistic more, when they host each of BUL FC on Tuesday and Soltilo Bright Stars FC for the final game of the campaign.

It's also worth noting, Bright Stars is their bogey side as they have already beaten them twice in the season.

In between, KCCA's wanting away show will be tested again when they visit Busoga United, who will want to shoulder off any relegation threats.

Villa, on the other hand, had two points chopped off by the FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel after hooliganistic actions earlier in the campaign.

It wasn't specified whether the two were taken off their home or away matches. But, they would have collected 27 points at home and 21 on the road.

They also expect stout tests at Wankulukuku against survival-seeking Blacks Power FC and URA FC. But first, they will be on the road to Bombo to take on the stubborn UPDF FC.

For the final games of the campaign on May 27, Vipers, KCCA and Villa will be at home with their fans against Busoga United, Bright Stars and URA, respectively.

That said, none of the three challengers has shown real intent of a team vying for silverware in the recent past, a manifestation that it could head either at Kitende, Wankulukuku or Lugogo.

Vipers has only managed seven points off an available 15 in the past five games, winning just twice with a draw and suffering two defeats.

It hasn't been a lot better for KCCA either, as they have eight points in 15. They have two wins and as many draws, while one game, against Vipers, ended in defeat.

For the past five games, it has come worse off for Villa, who have only six points in 15; with three defeats and two victories.

Supporters of all the three giants have almost always showed up with full support on match-days this campaign, and for the remainder of the season, the teams can count on them.

With the most motivation from each corner expected to be skyhigh as none needs reminders of what's at stake, none can afford a tumble at this stage.

The adrenaline levels will shoot up every time each of them steps on the pitch, and it's not expected to be any different for the fan in the stands - it's built itself up for one of the most dramatic ends to a season, in years.

For the Ugandan football fan, brace yourselves for nine finals; with joys, cheers, upsets, heartbreaks, tears and jeers in the next fortnight.
