Both teams had chances to break the deadlock but lack of efficiency in front of goal let them down
AFC Leopards and Kenya Police FC shared the spoils following an entertaining barren draw at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
With a number of injuries to his side, Leopards coach Patrick Aussems was forced into a number of changes with Eugene Mukangula, Victor Omune and Jaffari Owiti deployed upfront while Police had former Ingwe striker leading the line with Francis Kahata pulling the strings just behind.
However, not much was witnessed in the first half which ended goalless with no team threatening their opponents’ goal, although Police had a shout for a penalty in the closing stages of the opening 45 minutes, following a foul in the box.
The second half was more entertaining with both sides taking the game to each other and either team should have broken the deadlock inside 10 minutes after the break were it not for their wastefulness.
Ojo Olaniyi came close to finding the game’s first goal with a well-taken header 10 minutes from time but it went just over the crossbar after Leopards had made a late foray forward.
Another Leopards header went begging in the 89th minute with the Police defence under a late siege from Ingwe.
Nothing much would be witnessed after as both teams settled for a draw which leaves Leopards in fifth place on 39 points from 23 matches while Police are a place behind, two points adrift, having played two games less.
It is not the result both sides were looking for with Leopards, who conceded a last-minute goal in their 1-0 loss to Tusker FC on Wednesday, now going two games without a win while the law enforcers have now recorded three straight draws.
