Fans have criticized the conditions of Nigeria's camp after a recent video from Uyo was shared on social media
The Super Eagles training camp in Uyo has come under fire after fans expressed outrage over the substandard conditions ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Nigeria set for AFCON qualifier
The camp officially opened on Monday, with 7 players confirmed on Monday as the Super Eagles prepare for crucial AFCON 2025 qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Nigeria will face neighbours Benin first at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo in their opening AFCON 2025 qualifier before travelling to Kigali to face Rwanda.
The camp saw 20 players training on Tuesday ahead of the match against Benin with more players, including new Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who is expected to arrive on Thursday.
As the players prepare to face Benin, a video from the camp, where the Nigerian team is preparing to face Benin and Rwanda, angered fans.
Fans slam NFF over Super Eagles camp conditions
As footage from the Super Eagles training camp surfaced, fans were quick to condemn the poor conditions, which they believe may be contributing to Nigeria’s underperformance on the international stage.
Players were seen doing their stretches on training mats placed on hard concrete, sparking concerns over potential injuries and a lack of professionalism, with many fans taking to social media to express their dissatisfaction.
Some fans on X even suggested that the poor facilities might be a major reason why some talented Nigerian players with dual nationality choose to represent other countries instead of the Super Eagles.
With Nigeria playing Benin on the 10th of September, fans will hope that the training conditions will not stop the Super Eagles players from giving their best and securing a positive result against the Cheetahs.
