Super Eagles legend Nwankwo Kanu moved by 4-word message from departed 18-year-old Nigerian youth international
Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu has approved the latest message from his youngster who left Enyimba for Europe.
What Kanu said
In a recent interview, the Enyimba club chairman discussed the coming AFCON slated for 2025, and according to him, Morocco are favourite to lift the title.
He believes the Atlas Lions are in a golden generation and, hence, he speculates that the Cup of Nations is theirs to lose.
“Morocco has always boasted great players playing in Europe,” Kanu said, per Le Site Info.
“But this generation is unparalleled. Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi... The technicality and talent of the entire squad give this team the status of a clear favourite for the upcoming AFCON.
“By hosting the AFCON at home, Morocco has every chance to be crowned champion.
“I truly believe that the Atlas Lions will not let the next AFCON slip away, especially since the Kingdom will be the host nation.”
Morocco's chances
Walid Regragui’s side were also favourites to lift the last AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast but were surprisingly knocked out in the Round of 16 by eventual bronze medallists South Africa.
However, they will be hosting the competition next year and will expectedly be much stronger, with the home crowd behind them.
They will have the likes of the Super Eagles to contend with, who currently lead Group D in qualifying with seven points after their victory against Libya.
