PSG not interested in Osimhen, new CF
The news will come as a relief to Napoli fans, who were facing the prospect of losing their prized asset in a blockbuster €120 million deal.
Osimhen, who has become an icon for the Serie A club, was widely expected to replace Kylian Mbappe at the Parc des Princes following the French superstar's high-profile move to Real Madrid.
However, it now appears that PSG have had a change of heart and will not be signing the 25-year-old this transfer window after another source from Italy stated that talks have 'cooled down'.
According to the French outlet le10sport, the Ligue 1 champions are no longer in discussions with Napoli for Osimhen, and the club has not planned to recruit a new striker for the 2023-24 season.
The report suggests that PSG's new sporting director, Luis Campos, is content with the current attacking options at his disposal, which include the likes of Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani, who are expected to lead the line for the French giants in the upcoming campaign.
This news will come as a major boost for Napoli, who were bracing themselves for the potential departure of their prized asset per Antonio Conte.
The Italian club had reportedly been willing to offer a slight reduction on Osimhen's €130 million release clause to facilitate a transfer to PSG, but it appears that the deal has now fallen through.
With the transfer saga seemingly over, Osimhen is now expected to remain at Napoli, where he has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in European football.
The Nigerian international scored 26 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions to help the club clinch their first Serie A title in over 30 years two seasons ago.
Napoli's eagerness to sell Osimhen this summer was partly driven by their desire to fund reinforcements for Antonio Conte's new project at the club and the player’s wish to leave after four seasons.
However, with the PSG deal now off the table, the Partenopei will have to explore alternative options to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
