Both sides face a serious injury crisis ahead of one of the two league matches on Sunday.

After Newcastle United were beaten by Aston Villa, it is Manchester United’s time to react and jump to third place with a win.

United and the Magpies are top-four finish rivals, and each game is crucial for either side as the Premier League comes close to an end.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils face Forest, who registered surprising wins over Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in previous games.

They have, however, been on a nine-game winless streak stretching back to early February, which saw them drop into the danger zone.

Meanwhile, United have been inconsistent in the last six weeks, winning five games out of nine.

Their latest game was a home match against Sevilla in the Europa League. The quarter-final clash, which they drew 2-2, came at a cost, as the United camp was hit by major injuries.

The Red Devils and Forest have met three times this season, and the former scored eight goals while the latter failed to find the back of the net in those matches.

Team News

Steve Copper will face United with several key players out with injuries.

Dean Henderson (thigh) – who would have been ineligible to face United though, Willy Boly (hamstring), Serge Aurier (unspecified), Renan Lodi (knock), Omar Richards (calf), Moussa Niakhate (thigh), Cheikhou Kouyate (thigh), Ryan Yates (shoulder), Giulian Biancone (knee), Chris Wood (hamstring), and Gustavo Scarpa (knee) — are all out injured.

On Erik ten Hag’s side, Lisandro Martinez (foot) and Raphael Varane (ankle) – who were injured during the midweek match against Sevilla, Tom Heaton (ankle), Donny van de Beek (knee), Alejandro Garnacho (ankle), and Marcus Rashford (groin) are sidelined.

Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay, both with hamstring and knock injuries, remain doubtful.

What are the stats saying?

Manchester United have won their last six Premier League games against Nottingham Forest, scoring at least three goals on each occasion. In English top-flight history, only Manchester City (eight vs Wolverhampton Wanderers, 1902-1932) and Arsenal (seven vs Middlesbrough, 1930-1933) have won more consecutively against an opponent while netting 3+ goals.

Nottingham Forest are winless (D3 L6) and without a clean sheet in nine Premier League games. They are without a win in all 23 league games in which they have conceded this season (D8 L15), with all six of their victories being to nil.

Manchester United have lost three of their last four away games in the Premier League (W1), having only lost three of their first ten on the road this season (W5 D2). The Red Devils have conceded 29 goals in 14 away league games this term. Not since 1978/79 have they hit 30 goals conceded within their first 15 matches on the road of a league campaign.

Predicted line-ups:

West Ham: Navas, Williams, Worrall, Felipe, Toffolo, Freuler, Danilo, Mangal, Gibbs-White, Johnson, Dennis.

Manchester United: De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia; Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Sancho, Weghorst.
