The Pride of Rivers, Rivers United have drawn a Tanzanian side in the next phase of the CAFCC.
The Rivers State club has been drawn against Tanzania side Young Africans in the knockout stage of the CAFCC.
Rivers United and Yanga were pitted against each other after the draws for the CAFCC and CAFCL held in Cairo on Wednesday.
Former CAF Champions League winner with Asante Kototo back in 1983, Opoku Nti, conducted the quarterfinal draw.
In the other quarterfinal pairings, it is a Northern derby as Algeria’s USM Alger and Morocco’s AS FAR will go head-to-head in the tie of the round.
Moroccan side, AS FAR, are the only team left in the competition that has lifted the title before and will be eyeing a repeat of that feat for the first time since 1995.
Pyramids FC will take on debutants Marumo Gallants of South Africa while ASEC have US Monastir in the final quarterfinal game.
The last eight fixtures have been scheduled for the last week of April, with the first leg matches set for April 23 and the return fixtures a week later. The semis will be played on 14 and 21st May.
Rivers United road to last eight
The NPFL champions have looked the part in CAF’s second tier competition and will be looking to go as far as possible.
United finished second in Group B behind Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas after three wins, two defeats and a draw in six matches in the group stage.
The Pride of Rivers were at the top of the table heading into the final game of the round against Mimosas.
However, while Stanley Eguma and his side had already sealed the ticket to the knockout stage, they missed out as group winners following a narrow 1-0 defeat.

Confederation of African Football, CAF, has confirmed the date for the quarterfinal draws for its second-tier club competition CAFCC with Rivers United as part of the top eight teams.
Their performance so far in the competition has fueled optimism that the Nigerian champions can go all the way to the final.
But they will need to first overcome Tanzania’s Yanga in the round of 16 to take a decisive step to achieving that dream.

Meanwhile, Eguma and his boys are on the verge of adding another silverware to their collection.
The Pride of Rivers secured their place in the final of the Rivers State FA Cup following a 3-0 win over Wilbros FC.
Wilbros failed to show up for the game with United given a walk over win in the derby.
Following the win, United advanced to the final and will represent the treasure base fo the nation in the national finals, Federation Cup.
