NPFL side Remo Stars have been in the news for the right reasons but not this time following severe punishment from IMC for an assault on a referee.
The Ikenne-based club has been docked three points, fined and will face court proceedings through its club General Manager Adams following an assault on an NPFL referee.
As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, the game between Remo Stars and Gombe United was abandoned after 45 minutes, with the scoreline still goalless at the break.
It was a bizarre situation as the centre referee, Ndubuisi Ukah, refused to come back for the second half which was later played the next day in Ikenne.

Remo docked points and fined
It has now emerged that the referee was assaulted in the dressing room in the week 12 encounter against Gombe forcing Ukah to abandon the tie in Ikenne.
Consequently, the league governing body, Interim Management Committee, has unleashed its wrath on Remo with a series of punishments.
According to their ruling signed by the body’s head of operations, Davidson Owumi, the punishment was meted out based on the premise that the club failed to out on based on the premise that the club failed to provide adequate security for the match officials.
Remo was subsequently charged for a breach of four (4) IMC rules, with the club docked three points, and three goals and fined N1.25 million.
Also, the club's general manager, Adams, has been suspended from all activities related to the NPFL, with the club mandated to ensure he faces prosecution in court.

The full IMC verdict on Remo Stars
In the charge, Remo was found to have breached Rules B8.21, B13.21, C11 and B13.52.
For breach of Rule B8.21 which is failure to adequately secure match Officials before, during and after the match leading to the assault on one of them, the club was fined ₦500,000 and also directed to pay ₦250,000 to the said Official, Ukah Ndubuisi as compensation.
For breach of Rules C.11, three points and three goals were ordered to be deducted from the total points and goals accrued to the club for the assault on the match official while Mr Ekene Adams identified as the attacker has been banned from all NPFL activities for the rest of the season.
Remo Stars is also to ensure diligent prosecution in the law court of Mr Adams who is the club's General Manager.
The Club was also found to have breached Rule B13.21 for disturbances and disruptions which led to the discontinuation of a league match. The club was fined ₦500,000.

The Ikenne-based club was also found in breach of Rule B13.52 in that it failed to ensure the restriction of access by unauthorized persons to all restricted areas, which resulted in the assault of a match official.
Remo was also reminded that in Rule C.26, it is required in writing within 48 hours of the notice with Rule C.26, is required in writing within 48 hours of the date of the notice, to submit to the ruling of the IMC or elect to appear before a Disciplinary Panel.
The fines are to be paid within seven working days.
