Harambee Starlets coach Beldine Odemba praises Tyron 'Messi' Kariuki's exceptional talent foreseeing a bright future in Kenyan football.

Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has become a pivotal figure in the development of Kenyan football talent, particularly in nurturing the bright young star, Tyron ‘Messi’ Kariuki.

Odemba, a seasoned coach with a keen eye for talent, has witnessed the rise of Kariuki from his early days at Highway Secondary School to his current position as a promising talent at Rainbow FC, playing in the National Super League.

Kariuki's potential caught the attention of the international football community during his impressive performance at the CECAFA U18 Boys Championship.

His skills on the field drew the interest of Nastic Sports Academy, a renowned institution in Spain, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.

However, a clash of interests between Rainbow FC and Nastic Sports Academy has put Kariuki's dream move to Spain in jeopardy.

Despite the current impasse, Odemba's faith in Kariuki's abilities remains unwavering.

“Tyron Kariuki is a rare talent. I spotted him even before he joined the school, and it was evident then that he was destined for greatness,” she remarked in an interview with Citizen TV.

Odemba, who has an extensive background in nurturing talent, both as a coach at Highway Secondary School and as the head of Kenya's women's national team, the Harambee Starlets, sees Kariuki's journey as a beacon of hope for young Kenyan players.

The 17-year-old Kariuki, known for his exceptional dribbling skills, has been likened to global football icons, earning him the nickname 'Messi'.

Many in the Kenyan football community believe that he is on a trajectory that could see him donning the prestigious Harambee Stars jersey in the near future.

Odemba, who also manages the FKF Women's Premier League team Kenya Police Bullets, emphasizes the importance of nurturing talent from a young age.

“Our country is brimming with football talent, but often, these young players do not pursue it beyond secondary school. It is essential to provide them with the right opportunities and guidance,” she concluded.
