The seven-time league champions have had to contend with financial hiccups throughout the season, which reflects in their fluctuating performance.

Express FC might have wrapped up their home league campaign on a winning note with a 2-0 win over Maroons FC on Friday, but it's been a tough campaign.

The seven-time league champions have had to contend with financial hiccups throughout the season, which reflects in their fluctuating performance.

However, head coach James Odoch has a few positives to pick from the season, like Allan Kayiwa, the club's leading marksman who has scored 12 goals.

Odoch says that is an immense contribution to Express FC's performance in the campaign.

"I am happy for Kayiwa, who has been our key player this season because of his performance,” Odoch told Pulse Sports.

“I think he deserves a national team call-up; with a game left, he could be the league's top scorer,” he added.

The former Express FC midfielder also credited his team for adjusting to his style of play, adding that the current squad only needs a few more additions to compete next season.

"If I have a chance of staying with those players, I will do better because most of them are young and have potential; we shall have to make a few more additions though.”

"They have understood my system and how I want them to play, so if they are still here and I am still here, then Express will perform better,” Odoch added.

The Red Eagles now sit 10th on the 15-team log with 34 points after 27 games. They will make the long trip to Lira to face Blacks Power in their final game of the season.

James Odoch who claimed the Pilsner coach of the month beating S.C Villa's Jackson Magera and Vipers SC's Alex Isabirye to the gong guided his side to two wins and two draws as they picked up eight points in as many games.
