Currently, the 2020/21 league champions sit seventh on the 15-team log with 28 points, just two adrift of fourth-placed BUL FC, with each playing 21 times already.
Seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC have been in relatively good form in the second round, winning each of their past three games.
The recent spell of positive results came off the back of 11 games without a single victory, inclusive of six defeats which looked to put their season into jeopardy.
Currently, the 2020/21 league champions sit seventh on the 15-team log with 28 points, just two adrift of fourth-placed BUL FC, with each playing 21 times already.
"I am happy with the results, and if we can do well in our next matches, we can finish in the top four," said Express head coach James Odoch following their victory against Busoga United on Tuesday.
The Red Eagles were in an unforgiving mood as they comfortably beat the Jinja-based side 3-0 at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
"I am happy with our form of winning a third straight game," expressed Odoch before adding:
"The results are good, we scored three goals today, and I hope we play better against Bright Stars (in the next game) to finish in the top four positions," he reiterated.
Battle for Top Four heating up
Besides leaders SC Villa and runners-up KCCA FC, who look to have pulled away with 43 and 38 points, respectively, each of the following eight teams can still grab a top-four position.
A top-four finish is in sight from the third-placed Vipers SC (32 points), who have only played 17 games (the fewest in the competition), to the 10th-placed Maroons FC, who have 27 points, albeit with 21 games.
The difference between the third and tenth is just five points, indicating the competitiveness of the 2022/23 campaign.
