The 2022/23 Uganda Premier League top scorer has been included in the club's squad for the season and has retained the captain's armband.

While the club hasn't confirmed the details and duration of Kayiwa's contract extension, it's understood it is a one-year deal.

NEC had all but secured Kayiwa's signature, but the two parties later disagreed on a deal before it fell through.

The window has been awkward for the attacker, who also had links to a return to Vipers SC.

Express FC forward Allan Kayiwa agreed to a new contract at Express

Kayiwa ended the campaign with 13 league goals and four assists for Express FC in his first season at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

With Express desperate for quality and experience in their ranks after a relatively quiet summer transfer window, a new contract to Kayiwa would be helpful for the James Odoch-coached side.

The team finished 10th last season, gathering just 37 points in 28 league matches.

Despite Odoch ruling the UPL trophy out for the next campaign, 'Mukwano Gwabangi' will hope for a better upcoming season.

On Saturday, they get off the season with a home bout against topflight newbies Mbarara City FC at Wankulukuku.
