The Red Devil's pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund has finally come to an end after he was unveiled in front of the Old Trafford faithful
Manchester United have announced the signing of Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund to the club in a reported £72 million deal from Serie A side Atalanta.
Hojlund officially a Red Devil
Hojlund has been on the Red Devils’ radar all summer as the preferred candidate to lead the attack in the 2023/24 season and has finally completed a move to Old Trafford after weeks of intense negotiations between Manchester United and Atalanta.
The 20-year-old striker was unveiled during Manchester United’s friendly against RC Lens at Old Trafford to rapturous applause at the start of the match.
Hojlund will join on a five-year contract with an option for an extra year, keeping him at the club until at least 2028 and is expected to mark a generation at the club.
Manchester United excited to welcome Hojlund
In a statement from the club, Manchester United welcomed Hojlund, with Football Director John Murtough, saying, “Rasmus is a truly exceptional talent. He possesses technical and physical attributes which rank him amongst the best players in the world for his age group.
“Working under Erik ten Hag and his coaches will provide Rasmus with the perfect development platform. Everyone across the club will ensure that he is given the time and all the support required to reach his immense potential.”
Despite the excitement at the striker’s confirmation, fans of Manchester United will have to wait a few weeks before getting to see Hojlund in action after the forward suffered a minor injury during pre-season training with his former team.
