Uganda Cranes winger Joackim Ojera is slowly creating a cult hero status at Rwanda Premier League side Rayon Sports if his recent exploits are anything to go by.
‘Gikundiro’ advanced to the semifinals of Rwanda’s domestic cup (Peace Cup) with a 6-3 aggregate score against defending champions Police FC on Tuesday at the Pele regional stadium in Kigali.

Ojera was named the Rayon Sports player for March following his exploits which saw him score three goals and provide an assist in five games across all competitions.
“Like any other player, it feels great to have helped the team by assisting twice as we reached the semis; we eliminated the defending champions, so into the semis we come,” a jovial Ojera noted.
“It was a team effort, everyone gave their best, and that’s why we are at this level; we now shift our focus to Musanze FC, who we face in the semis; we want to go all the way.”
Rayon Sports are also in the run-in for the Primus Rwanda Premier League, which they last won in 2018.
