Nigerian defender Ola Aina nears return from injury as he is back training with his club Torino
Super Eagles fullback Ola Aina is back in training with Torino for the first time since October 2022 when he got injured.
The 26-year-old suffered a biceps femoris muscle injury while playing for Torino in a Serie A match against Udinese three months ago.
It appears the Nigerian international is close to making his full return to action after the club confirmed that he is back in training.
Ola Aina returns to action
Torino posted a picture of their number 34 with the caption 'He's back' which indicates that Aina could be making an appearance on the pitch sooner rather than later.
It also confirms reports that the versatile defender is back in training for the first time since October as he continues to recover from the injury.
A previous report had projected February 5 as Aina's estimated return date when Torino take on Udinese in Serie A, ironically the reverse fixture of the game Aina got injured in.
But the latest development is that Aina could be in line to return this Saturday the 28th of January when Torino visits Empoli, two games earlier than initially projected.
Torino are currently eighth on the Serie A log and are in pursuit of a European spot which is why Ola Aina's return is a much-needed boost.
The Nigerian played 10 of the 11 possible Serie A games for Torino before his injury and his versatility is useful to the team as he functions effectively as a wing-back on the right and left.
