Simba SC head coach Roberto Oliviera can now afford a smile after his side completed a double over Vipers SC in the CAF Champions League group stage on Tuesday evening at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.
Midfielder Clatous Chota Chama scored the only goal of the game at the stroke of halftime; the goal was only Simba's second in four group-stage games, which indicates that Msimbazi is struggling with scoring goals.
However, head coach Roberto Oliviera is unbothered and says that the most important thing is to win games.
"I think the most important thing is that we get the three points," he noted during the post-match press conference.
"I have just been here for three months, I can't keep changing the team every time, but I trust my players, that's for sure."
"Every game will always be a difficult game, but our objective today was to get three points which we did," he added.
Simba dominated the game on Tuesday evening from the ball possession with 67% compared to Vipers' 37%, and they also had 16 goal attempts, unlike the Venoms, who only managed nine.
The win takes Simba to second on the log with six points, two ahead of third-placed Horoya, who lost 3-1 to ten-man Raja Casablanca in Guinea. The home side also ended the game with ten men.
Roberto Oliviera's charges must now win their next one of two games in the doubleheader against Horoya. Simba will host the first leg.
