Harambee Stars midfielder Duke Abuya has been showered with congratulatory messages following his recognition as the Singida Fountain Gate Player of the Month for October
Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga is among those who have congratulated his national teammate Duke Abuya after the midfielder was named Player of the Month of October at his club Singida Fountain Gate FC.
Abuya was awarded for his outstanding contribution in all five matches Singida played in October, including being the most disciplined player, his assists, and the fact that he featured in 85 percent of all the games.

Kenyan midfielder Duke Abuya scored his first league goal for Singida Fountain Gate during their hard-fought 3-2 victory away to Namungo on Saturday night
Singida faced Future FC of Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup, a match they lost 4-1 on October 1, and followed it up with a 1-0 win over Mtibwa Sugar FC in a Tanzania Premier League match on October 5, Abuya’s Kenyan compatriot Elvis Rupia scoring the lone goal.
A 2-1 defeat to Simba SC then followed three days later before they beat Namungo FC 3-2 on October 21 when Abuya scored the opening goal and completed the month with a 2-0 defeat to champions Yanga six days later.
“The technical bench selects the player of the month and looks at various aspects of the payer’s game during that period,” said Singida spokesman Hussein Massanza when receiving the award on behalf of Abuya from the club’s sponsors Jet & Sons Limited.
The player expressed his delight at having received the award, coming three months after his move to Singida from Kenya Police in July.
“Much appreciation to all Singida Fountain Gate fraternity,” Abuya posted on social media.
Abuya’s Harambee Stars team-mates led by Olunga also wished him well after his recognition.

Michael Olunga is set to compete for the inagural Middle East Player of the Year award against Cristiano Ronaldo, Riyad Mahrez, Karim Benzema and seven other players.

Abuya received Tsh1 million (Ksh60,865) prize for bagging the award from Jet & Sons Limited, a leading construction company in Tanzania.
