“I am so excited for the win but more excited to score twice and both freekicks," he told Pulse Sports, adding; "I have always been training the technique and I want to perfect it but today it felt good because it worked,”

So often, left footed players have a knack for scoring from set pieces in Ugandan football something Soltilo Bright Stars’ Omony Denis Kaka is taking on with the hope of being as consistent as he can.

The 21-year-old left back scored his first league brace, both goals from well executed set pieces during Soltilo Bright Stars’ 3-1 home win against Blacks Power on Friday, and he asserts that it is a technique he is perfecting every day.

“I am so excited for the win but more excited to score twice and both freekicks," he told Pulse Sports, adding; "I have always been training the technique and I want to perfect it but today it felt good because it worked,”

“It is not a one off because I also scored a set piece in the Uganda cup (Vs Nakapelimen FC) so whenever I get an opportunity, I have to use it.”

Omony was also grateful to his coach Asaph Mwebaze and his teammates who have believed in him and guided him all the way.

“Coach Asaph has played a very integral role in making sure I am grounded, and that I improve on a daily and I appreciate him for that,” he said.

“I also commend my fellow players who have supported me and encouraged me to challenge myself.”

Omony adds that the team’s aim is to take it game by game; Our target is to take it one game at a time but most importantly we believe in ourselves.”

With three goals already to his name, all freekicks, Soltilo Bright Stars will hope Kaka’s sweet left foot delivers more set pieces starting with their next assignment, a Uganda cup game against Kiyinda Boys FC at home in the round of 16.
