The state Sports Writers new caretaker committee will steer the affairs of the association for three months
The Ondo State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has formed a caretaker committee to run the association's operations for the next three months.
This was part of the congress resolutions held in Akure on Tuesday.
On October 27, the Wahab Bankole-led interim committee was established to oversee association affairs in the wake of the ill-advised election that might have brought in new officials.
Bankole expressed his gratitude to the association's members for their support and comradery in achieving its goals during the previous four months.
He claimed that the association's improvement toward its professional heights had been accelerated by the executive.
“The welfare of members of the association is always paramount and with the little resources, we did our best to promote your welfare. The association also secured more slots for members who covered the national sports festival in Asaba on the bill of Ondo State Government,” he said.
The congress, however, dissolved the Wahab-led caretaker committee after he announced his intention not to continue as the chairman of the committee, which led to the nomination of a new caretaker committee.
The committee's chairman, Mr. Femi Dairo of NTA, was elected, along with the secretary, Adewale Momoh of the Correspondents' Chapel, and a member, Sukanmi Elujoba of Adaba FM.
Pulse Sports reports that the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeal Committee, Barrister Abdulhakeem Mustapha, has appealed to the SWAN to promote Nigerian sports.
