On Sunday, two Uganda Cranes players, Ismail Watenga and Allan Kateregga are expected to feature in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Denis Onyango did not appear on the match day squad as his Mamelodi Sundowns launched their CAF Champions League group stage with a narrow 1-0 win over Al Hilal from Sudan in Pretoria.
The Ugandan keeper has been utilised sparingly, with his spot filled by South Africa national team goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.
Sundowns controlled the entire game with an overall 71% possession, but Cassius Mailula's 25th-minute strike made the difference on the scoresheet.
Al Hilal finished the game with ten men after their centre-back Abaker Abdalla Abdelrazig received his marching orders in the 86th minute for a second bookable offence.
Elsewhere, Al Merrikh from Sudan lost 1-0 to Amine Tougai's late goal in Tunisia. Eric Kambale, the former Express FC forward, was not involved in the game.
