And even though Onyango could only watch from the sidelines as an unused substitute, he has expressed his happiness about his side’s display.

Dennis Onyango will forever remember 6th April 2019; on a hot afternoon, a Pitso Mosimane coached Mamelodi Sundowns blew away Africa’s biggest club with a fantastic display.

The former Cranes captain was in goal and kept a clean sheet at a packed Loftus Versfield stadium as his side obliterated Al Ahly 5-0 in the quarter-final first leg of the CAF Champions League.

The defeat was the Red Devils’ worst performance in the team’s history of the competition as they were eliminated 5-2 on aggregate.

Masandawana were back at it again, this time in a group stage meeting on Saturday after they humiliated the 10-time African club champions 5-2 at the same venue.

And even though Onyango could only watch from the sidelines as an unused substitute, he has expressed his happiness about his side’s display.

“Brilliant result- and performance from the lads, utterly ruthless from minute one; what a game it was.” He tweeted on his official handle.

“Still can’t get over the incredible goals and atmosphere inside the stadium; thank you for the support Masandawana; the journey continues.

Marcelo Allende opened the scoring four minutes before Themba Zwane, Teboho Mokwena.

A late Peter Shalulie’s brace sealed the deal for the 2016 African club champions.

The three points for Masandawana move them to 10 points and top of the log in the process advancing to the next round.

At the same time, Ahly will need to beat Coton Sport and Al Hilal – and hope Sundowns beat the Sudanese giants away from home.

Rulani Mokwena’s charges have been ruthless on all fronts this season. As a result, Masandawana is not only 17 points clear at the summit of the Dstv Premiership, but they have also scored 40 goals and conceded only eight this season.
