The former Western Stima forward’s strike was enough to take advantage of a sloppy Posta Rangers defence.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League title chasers KCB kept their faint hopes alive when they shrugged off a three game winless run with a deserved 1-0 victory over jaded Posta Rangers at Ruaraka Grounds on Sunday afternoon.

In a game characterized by a lack of real clear inroads created by the two sides, Henry Onyango second half striker was sufficient to settle the game..

Posta had the lions' share of possession but were vulnerable to KCB on the transition. The first real opportunity came in the 39th minute when they won a free kick just on the edge of the area, but Musa Masika's attempted shot was taken behind for a corner kick.

Posta had the chance to score first just before the break when a cross by Brian Ndenga found Brian Chemweno, but he hit it wide of Bryne Omondi's net.

A well constructed move by KCB found Apollo Otieno in the 44th minute, but his shot went way over the bar.

There was a moment of panic in the KCB box before the break when Posta captain Michael Apudo nearly converted a short drill past Omondi's near post, but a ricochet back to him meant he gave the ball away for a goal kick.

Both teams started fairly evenly in the second half, with no one creating any real goal scoring chances in the first five minutes , but that would soon change.

KCB drew first blood in the 50th minute through Henry Onyango who rattled the ball in off a perfectly timed volley.

The goal prompted Posta head coach, John Kamau into making attacking changes. In came Brian Marita for Geoffrey Ojunga.

The move momentarily paid off with Posta starting to appear more positive. However, KCB continued to look like the likeliest team to score, and Kamau subbed on Chrisphinus Odhiambo and Caleb Olilo for Brian Otieno and Kennedy Odhiambo to try and give them some width.

The bankers also made changes of their own in the 74th minute.Francis Kahiro, Harun Mwale & Mohammed Kilume came on for Bramwel Chemweno, Erickson Mulu & Brian Ochieng.

KCB nearly added a second in the 75th minute through Nicholas Kipkirui following a well executed set piece situation, but KCB keeper Brian Odiero held firm to deny him.

.Posta tried to create chances to find an equalizer, but they could not find a way to break down the KCB defense, and the game ended 1-0.
