Goals from Thapelo Morena and Themba Zwane in either half ensured the maximum points for Rhulani Mokwena’s side as they wrapped up their away campaign for this season.
Masandawana had only managed one win in their last five league games, including the 2-2 draw against Amazulu in which they surrendered a two-goal lead, but the win means Sundowns picked up their first away win in five away games.
Former Cranes captain Denis Onyango didn’t feature or make the bench, while Ismael Watenga was named in the matchday squad.
The loss leaves Marumo Gallants 14th on 29 points after 29 games played, three points ahead of Maritzburg United, who sit bottom of the pile.
Sundowns move to 69 points, a massive 19 points ahead of second-placed Orlando Pirates.
Both Onyango and Watenga will now shift their focus to continental football for their respective teams as both Sundowns and Gallants are in the semifinals of the CAF interclub competitions.
Masandawana face defending CAF Champions League champions Wydad Casablanca while Marumo Gallants face Khalid Aucho’s Young Africans in the semifinals of the CAF Confederations Cup.
