Club Brugge are set for a fifth coach in only two years after firing Scott Parker.
Club Brugge announced Scott Parker's sacking after a poor run of results that culminated in a humiliating 7-1 aggregate defeat to Benfica in the Champions League.
The former Fulham manager, who had previously been dismissed by Bournemouth, took up the position less than three months ago, replacing Carl Hoefkens.
Club Brugge fire Scott Parker
Club Brugge announced via their official website that Scott Parker is no longer the head coach of the club.
The sacking comes after the English manager only managed to pick up two wins from the 12 games in which he oversaw the Blauw-Zwart.
Parker was hired on the 31st of December last year, and he was brought in to steady a rocking ship, inadequately led by Hoefkens, who at least got Brugge into the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The work was terribly undone by Scott Parker, who led Brugge through an embarrassing 7-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Benfica.
The humiliating defeat came after three straight draws in the league and a longer run of games that has seen them fall 21 points off the pace of league leaders Genk.
Parker's termination means Brugge will have to employ their fifth manager in two years. They lost Philippe Clemente and Alfred Schreuder to poaching from bigger clubs, Monaco and Ajax, respectively; Carl Hoefkens and now Scott Parker were dismissed.
The humiliating loss to Benfica
As reported here, Club Brugge were on the wrong side of a humiliating loss on a Champions League night.
They lost 5-1 yesterday night at the Estadio da Luz to Benfica, thanks to a brace from World Cup star Goncalo Ramos, a penalty from Joao Mario, an opener from Rafa Silva, and a 77th-minute strike from David Meres.
Youngster Bjorn Meijer scored a spectacular goal late in the game for Brugge, but it was only consolation for a 5-1 scoreline.
Brugge were also beaten 2-0 at home in the first leg, making it a 7-1 aggregate defeat. Scott Parker was also fired by Bournemouth after a 9-0 defeat at the hands of
