Frank Onyeka played his first game for Brentford following his return from international duty with Nigeria's Super Eagles.
Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka's awaited return to action was marred by a crushing defeat as Liverpool emerged victorious with a resounding 4-1 win at Brentford Community Stadium.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Onyeka was named in Brentford’s matchday squad after his return from AFCON 2023 with Nigeria’s Super Eagles 24 hours ago.

Onyeka and Brentford suffer
Onyeka, who played a key role in Nigeria’s run to the final of the 34th AFCON, made his comeback as a substitute, entering the fray for the Bees in the 63rd minute.
However, his return was far from smooth sailing as he found himself on the receiving end of two fouls from Liverpool's tenacious midfield en route to a heavy win for the Reds inspired by Mohamed Salah.
The Nigerian international's efforts to make an impact in midfield were hampered by Liverpool's relentless pressure and superior quality on the ball.
As the match wore on, Brentford's hopes of mounting a comeback received a glimmer of hope when the 26-year-old helped Brentford pull a goal back in the 75th minute.
He was involved in the build-up to the goal scored by star striker, Ivan Toney, to give the Bees a little hope of an unlikely comeback.
But Liverpool's attacking prowess proved too much to handle for the home side's defence whose comedy of errors on the day led to another goal for Liverpool, Cody Gakpo wrapping things up with a fourth in the 86th minute.
Despite the defeat, Brentford will regroup and look to put the disappointment behind them, with Onyeka's return serving as a boost moving forward.
With crucial fixtures on the horizon, including an opportunity to bounce back in the next game, Brentford will be counting on Onyeka to rediscover his AFCON form and play a key role in their pursuit of success.
