The result lifts Busoga United out of the relegation zone with 13 points as they await the other match day 17 fixtures to be played.
Busoga United braved a searing lunchtime heat to beat Blacks Power 2-0 at the Akii Bua stadium in Lira on Tuesday.
Peter Onzima was the liveliest player on the pitch throughout the day with his efforts finally yielding inside the final 15 minutes.
The striker has been a subject of discussion among the club hopefuls as regards his endless but unfruitful runs on the pitch.
However, on Tuesday, the striker made the perfect lemonade from the lemons with a goal and an assist to seal his man-of-the-match status as Busoga picked their fifth win of the season.
Onzima broke the deadlock in the 74th minute after running half the pitch and shook off centre-back John Acire to set himself on a date with Tony Kyamera in Blacks Power before slotting in.
The hosts kept pressing for an equaliser but Busoga were unrelenting in their counterattacks through Onzima. They finally sealed the result ten minutes later.
Onzima switched back to his wing and darted through to the by-line before cutting back for an unmarked Ronald Kasamba to head in.
Wasteful Blacks
The match rolled off at a slow pace perhaps because of the temperatures in Lira City at 2 pm. It had to take about 27 minutes before a real chance was created.
Micheal Siwu was dribbling through but was hacked just outside the box. Dickens Okwir saw his effort from the kick deflected inches wide for a corner.
Jackson Wabileta found acres of space in the right lane to set up Daniel Otim but the left-back mistimed his steps inside six.
Joel Male had another with five minutes left to the break, again, running high on the right but his inviting cross went begging past the face of goal.
Blacks Power were eventually punished by that late Onzima-led surge. The result lifts Busoga United out of the relegation zone with 13 points as they await the other match day 17 fixtures to be played.
