Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis takes reponsibility for current struggles and promises January signings.
Following Friday night’s frustrating goalless draw against Monza in Serie A, Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has made a significant statement.
Although he managed to keep Victor Osimhen and most of the other players that helped them to their first Scudetto in 33 years last season, Laurentiis failed to adequately replace the brains behind it, Luciano Spalleti, after first failing to convince him to continue.

Chelsea will destroy his career — Nigerians beg Osimhen to avoid Stamford Bridge move
Nigerian fans advise Osimhen to steer clear of Chelsea when making his next career move.
He also failed to strengthen the team in the summer as the other Serie A teams prepared to depose a new champion.
Recognising the team's struggles, he has taken an unusual step in football management, but not so uncommon for his person, by openly accepting responsibility for the club's current performance.
De Laurentiis' admission of responsibility and commitment to strengthen the squad
According to Fabrizio Romano, De Laurentiis said, “It’s only my responsibility, my fault. Players or coaches are not responsible for this season; it’s on me.”
To rectify the situation, De Laurentiis promised to bolster the squad with new signings in the upcoming January transfer window. He emphasised, “I’m here to apologise to Napoli fans for our season. We will fix the situation by signing new players in January.”
This commitment to invest in new talent could be a turning point for Napoli, as they seek to improve their competitiveness in the league and attempt to defend their Serie A title while it is yet a forgone conclusion.
