Victor Osimhen won the best international African player beating Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez at the Ghana Football Awards.
Victor Osimhen has been given the best African International player at the Ghana Football Awards ceremony, GF Awards Twitter.
The Napoli striker beat the likes of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Riyad Mahrez of Manchester City and Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou.
Osimhen said after winning the award:
"It is a great privilege for me to win this award, it's really a great honour. Thank you to those who voted for me and the support. Major thanks to the organizers Ghana Football Awards for their love and support. I appreciate this recognition. I'll keep making Africa proud. Thank you and God bless you all."
Osimhen’s achievements this season
Osimhen scooped the award ahead of Mahrez who won the treble with City as well as Bounou who helped Sevilla to a victorious outing in the Europa League.
The 24-year-old scored 26 goals in Serie A to help Napoli win the Scudetto in an outstanding 2022-23 season.
He became the first Nigerian to win the accolade and also his first in the annual award held in Ghana.
The Super Eagles striker has now added to his collections of individual awards this year winning Serie A’s topscorer and the best striker in the Italian league.
