The Spanish side welcomed back their Nigerian superstar for the first time since October 20, 2024.

Sevilla FC celebrated the long-awaited return of Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke, who made his comeback after a three-month injury layoff during their dramatic 2-1 victory over Girona on Saturday.

This match marked Ejuke's first appearance since suffering a knee injury in October 2024, when he was sidelined during a challenging defeat to Barcelona.

Ejuke, who has been dubbed the 'new Jay Jay Okocha' because of his impressive dribbling ability, entered the match as a late substitute in the 82nd minute, contributing to Sevilla's resurgence after trailing at halftime.

The team had struggled in recent weeks, with three consecutive matches without a win, but Ejuke's presence on the field provided a much-needed boost.

Sevilla's coach, García Pimienta, acknowledged the difficulties Ejuke faced in regaining match fitness but noted his importance to the squad.

Social Media Celebration

Sevilla took to social media to commemorate Ejuke’s return with an enthusiastic post that read, “Our Igbo boy is back.”

Chidera Ejuke returned against Girona.

This sentiment resonated with fans in the comment section who have eagerly awaited his comeback, as he was one of the standout performers before his injury.

In the match against Girona, Sevilla found themselves down 1-0 at halftime after Arnau Martinez scored for the home side.

However, the team regrouped and equalised through Saul Niguez before securing a last-minute winner from Dodi Lukebakio.

This victory not only ended their winless streak but also reignited hopes for a successful season as they push for better standings in La Liga.

Having missed 12 matches during his recovery, including nine in the league and three Copa del Rey ties, Ejuke’s return is seen as pivotal for Sevilla's ambitions this season.

With Ejuke back in action, Sevilla aim to build on this momentum in their bid to finish higher in the LaLiga. His ability to dazzle on the pitch and create opportunities could prove crucial as the season progresses.
