Jamaica earned a first-ever win at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFAWWC, after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Panama on Saturday.

In what was the first clash between the duo and a battle of the underdogs in Group F but the Reggae Girlz found the FIFAWWC debutantes a hard nut to crack.
The Canal Girls dominated the encounter but did not make it count as both teams went into the break with nothing to separate them.
After the restart, the Reggae Girlz, who had created the better chances in the opening half, continued from where they left off.
Nine minutes into the second 45, Jamaica found the breakthrough when Swaby header in to put them 1-0 ahead.
Unperturbed by the goal, Panama’s Canal Girls continued to cause problems for Jamaica but ultimately failed to convert them into chances to harm the Reggae Girlz.
Jamaica held on for the win to register their first victory in the history of the FIFAWWC.
What Jamaica’s win means
The Reggae Girlz have now given themselves a great chance to go beyond the group stages with the win against Panama.
Jamaica currently has four points from a possible six which sees them sit second in Group F behind leaders France, who defeated Brazil in the other Group F clash.
Panama remains rooted to the foot of the table after back-to-back defeats.
