Sam Ssimbwa will be in charge of his first official game at home. The coach was left frustrated last week after a 1-1 draw away to Nothern Gateway in Lira.
Uganda Pentecostal University was among the surprise winners in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64. The Kitara Regional League outfit stunned three-time winners URA FC to advance to the round of 32.
Their star players Goodman Muhulizi and Julius Tuju scored in the four-goal thriller in Fort Portal during the regulation time before winning the penalty contest 4-3.
The side makes a short trip to their neighbour Kitara on Tuesday as they add paragraphs to their Cinderella story.
“I know that this game means a lot to them and coach Sam Ssimbwa because he didn’t perform to the expectation on his debut,” Polly Nabiyu, the UPU head coach told Pulse Sports before the encounter.
He warned: “We’re a level below them but that doesn’t mean a lot. We managed to win against a four-time winner, URA FC and are carrying that belief into this game as a motivational factor. This is a derby game so everything is possible.”
Welcome
Sam Ssimbwa will be in charge of his first official home game. The coach was left frustrated last week after a 1-1 draw away to Nothern Gateway in Lira. He is looking to impress the crowds in Hoima.
“We played well in our game in Lira but failed to pick a winner. We’re determined to win this game it being my first at home. I can promise a very good game of football and win,” Ssimbwa promised. The Royals progressed after edging out another third-division side Free Stars 7-6 in penalty mark kicks following a goalless draw in Mukono.
Kitara has been firing on all cylinders at home and has not lost a single game at their Kigaya grounds. They scored 20 goals in seven matches.
