Uganda Christian University’s captain Geoffrey Gagganga was named the Most Valuable Player and Midfielder of the 2023/24 Pepsi University Football League campaign.
At the awarding gala held at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, Kampala on Tuesday afternoon, Gagganga was also named in the Eleven of the competition.
That marked the end of his UFL career and he is now looking forward to playing in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
“UFL is a good platform for players to showcase themselves hoping to be scouted,” Gagganga told Voice of Bugerere upon receiving his awards.
“It is an exciting climax for me and I am grateful to everyone that has been involved in this journey.”
“The next step is to play in the UPL and hopefully for one of the biggest teams on the land,” he added.
Gagganga outcompeted Nkumba University’s Obwana John Andrew and Uganda Martyrs University’s Akbar Ssentongo to the MVP award.
He also beat St. Lawrence University’s Michael Abura and Nkumba’s Kennedy Ssewankambo to the Midfielder of the Season accolade.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bbosa Sulaiman was named the Manager of this year’s tournament after guiding Nkumba to their first ever UFL title.
Makerere University’s Douglas Bamweyana and William Kasozi of Makerere University Business School were the other two nominees in this category.
