It is important to note that both MUBS and UCU are past winners of this tournament and will hope to add another to their cabinet.

Stuart Mutebi scored the only goal of the game for Makerere University Business School (MUBS) to edge Bugema University 1-0 in the second leg of the Pepsi University Football League (UFL) quarterfinal played in Nakawa on Tuesday.

Mutebi broke the deadlock late in the 86th minute and the visitors could not respond.

A slim victory was enough for the Nakawa-based institution to advance to the semifinals 1-0 on aggregate following a goalless draw in the first leg in Bugema.

MUBS joins Uganda Christian University (UCU) who were the first team to book their semifinal spot after eliminating Makerere University (MAK) on away goals rule.

After a 2-1 defeat in Makerere, UCU edged MAK 1-0 and qualified following a 2-2 aggregate score.

It is important to note that both MUBS and UCU are past winners of this tournament and will hope to add another to their cabinet.

UCU’s only triumph came in 2019 while MUBS won the UFL consecutively in 2014 and 2015.

They are joint-record holders alongside Kampala University (KU) and Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi (UMU).

Action in the quarterfinals will resume on Thursday with UMU hosting Nkumba University in Nkozi following a 1-1 draw in Entebbe in the first leg.
