Tau scored in either half, while Mohamoud Kahraba sealed the deal for the record CAF Champions League winners.
Bafana Bafana star Pery Mezu Tau was the star man on Friday night as he helped his Al Ahly side disseminate Esperance 3-0 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semifinals at the Stade Olympique de Rades in Tunis.
Tau scored in either half, while Mohamoud Kahraba sealed the deal for the record CAF Champions League winners.
Tau opened the scoring after just eight minutes, controlling Kahraba’s pass on the right before he slotted home past goalkeeper Mohamed Sedki Debchi with the slippery surface helping a bit.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns forward was at it again in the 55th minute when he dummied the Esperance backline thrice before his effort went into the far-right corner, making it 2-0.
Forward Mohamoud Kahraba had missed a glorious one-on-one chance earlier in the first half but made amends with his effort in the 75th minute to more or less bury the tie.
With Al Ahly taking a 3-0 lead into the second leg at the Cairo International Stadium, the red devils look to have sealed a berth in the final.
