Wasswa, capped 75 times, has rallied the Cranes squad to give everything and play for their families because it's motivation enough to help the nation qualify.

"The game can either change you or show you where your career stands,“ Wasswa told the team after Wednesday's last training session.

”So give 100%, work for your families and don't play for yourself. Focus because it's possible we can qualify.“

"Everything will change if we qualify; it's in your hands. I won't tell any of you how to play; go out there and give everything,“ he added.

Hassan Wasswa featured at two AFCON tournaments, the first in 38 years in Gabon in 2017 and 2019 in Egypt when the Cranes, under French coach Sebastian Desabre, reached the round of 16.

Multin Micho Sredejovic's charges take on Niger on Thursday night in Morocco with the hope of earning maximum points and hope that Tanzania loses to Algeria in Algiers.

Uganda is third in Group F on four points, three behind the Taifa Stars, who face the already qualified Desert Foxes leading the pack on 12 points.

The qualification will earn the Cranes an 8th AFCON ticket in the nation's history and their first since 2019 in Cairo, Egypt.
