The Ugandan football fraternity is still getting over that FUFA Women's football side, She Cooperates, was relegated from the top flight, having won the league just a season ago.
Charles Ayiekoh, the Simba Queens head coach, is a former She Cooperates head coach who guided the side to the final of the 2022 CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers (CECAFA Zone) only to lose through a late goal to his current employers.
Ayiekoh says it's unfortunate that the club was relegated despite the success they registered just under a season ago, but it's part of the learning curve.
"Sadly, they (She Cooperates) were relegated; for me, it's because many players left the team after the CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers (CECAFA Zone) campaign," Ayiekoh told Pulse Sports.
"Four players left for Tanzania, one in Kenya and Phiona Nabbumba (Denmark), some coaches left too, which meant the club lacked experience."
The former MUBS and SOANA FC head coach also adds that it is financially straining to sustain a club more so by an individual.

FOOTBALL Champions Kampala Queens to go on European tour
Newly crowned Uganda Women's Super League champions Kampala Queens are nursing dreams of a Europe tour.
He cited an example of Lady Doves, who represented Uganda at the inaugural CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers (CECAFA Zone) in 2021, saying that the team struggled a bit after that.
"Finances also play a huge factor; it's hard to keep afloat if it's an individual bankrolling the team; a similar scenario happened with the Lady Doves in 2021," he noted.
"They (Lady Doves) didn't remain the same after the qualifiers; they struggled a bit the following season."
Ayiekoh, just like all She Cooperates fans, will be hoping the Nakawa-based outfit puts its act together and bounce back in the FUFA Women's Super League in 2024.
